German is a world language used widely in the Australian community and relevant to any career pathway.
Every University in Victoria has direct links with German-speaking countries where students can study, gain international experience and develop intercultural skills, an essential quality of a global citizen. A PowerPoint presentation with details can be downloaded HERE.
Learning another language brings personal benefits including developing social and intercultural skills, building self-esteem, strengthening literacy and promoting cognitive growth.
This section of the AGTV website contains promotional materials for downloading and also useful links for teachers in promoting the learning of German in schools.
AGTV Promotional Activities
The AGTV and Goethe-Institut host specific days for Primary and Secondary students under the banner of ‘German Day Out’. It is our experience that students in both Primary and Secondary are impressed by seeing so many students and has a positive affect on their attitude to German. For reports on these days, visit our Germanlinx website.
Information and tips are regularly shared through the local, state and national networks of the AGTV. In 2007 the AGTV produced a CD - Deutsch für die Zukunft, which was sent to all AGTV member secondary schools. It contained a collation of materials to promote German, including a promotional PPT. Contact the AGTV for further information about the contents.
Secondary students can apply for Scholarships & Exchanges.
